How scoring works

Points scale with the number of squares, with a bounded speed bonus based on two seconds per square. Using the engine’s Solve command makes the score zero; undo and marking are free.

How Nonograms work

Each clue describes groups of filled squares in that row or column, in the same order you will encounter them.

Two example Nonogram rowsThe clue three produces three adjacent filled squares. The clue one one produces two single filled squares separated by at least one empty square.31 1A space must separate two different runs.
  1. Read the runs.“3” means three neighboring filled squares. “1 1” means two single fills with at least one blank between them.
  2. Compare both directions.Every square belongs to one row and one column; use their clues together to eliminate possibilities.
  3. Mark what cannot be filled.Use Mark empty for confirmed blanks. The puzzle finishes when every row and column matches its clues.
