Our commitment
News is a public resource.
Boho News is committed to making its journalism usable by people with disabilities and by readers using assistive technology, limited devices, slow connections, high zoom, keyboard navigation, or alternative input methods.
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA.
Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility, not a one-time certification.
Measures we take
Our site is designed to support:
- semantic headings and landmarks;
- keyboard navigation;
- visible focus indicators;
- skip links;
- readable typography and line length;
- sufficient color contrast;
- light and dark themes;
- responsive layouts;
- zoom and text enlargement;
- reduced-motion preferences;
- descriptive page titles;
- meaningful image alt text;
- captions and credits;
- accessible tables and data labels;
- transcripts or captions for important audio and video when provided;
- article content that remains readable without client-side JavaScript;
- printable pages;
- clear correction, update, and retraction notices.
Images and visual journalism
Informative images should include meaningful alternative text.
Decorative images should be hidden from assistive technology when appropriate.
Charts, maps, tables, and document images should include text descriptions, direct labels, source information, and accessible alternatives sufficient to understand the central information.
A document screenshot is not a substitute for accessible text.
Documents
We may link to PDFs and other documents published by government agencies, courts, companies, or other third parties.
Some third-party documents may not be fully accessible.
When a document is central to our reporting, we aim to provide an accessible explanation, excerpt, transcript, or alternative format when practical.
Audio and video
Important prerecorded audio and video should include captions, transcripts, or an equivalent text account when practical.
Live material may initially lack a complete transcript. We aim to add one when the material remains important to the public record.
Third-party services
Some features are provided by third parties, including the TradingView market ticker and linked document systems.
We do not control every aspect of third-party accessibility.
We evaluate whether a feature provides enough value to justify its limitations and seek accessible alternatives when practical.
Known limitations
Accessibility defects may occur in:
- third-party widgets;
- government or court PDFs;
- complex tables and maps;
- newly published breaking coverage;
- archived material;
- external video or social embeds.
A limitation does not excuse inaction. We prioritize defects that block access to essential reporting or navigation.

- the problem;
- the browser, device, or assistive technology involved when relevant;
- the format or accommodation that would help;
- a way to contact you.
You may request an article or document in an alternative accessible format.
We will make a reasonable effort to respond and provide an effective alternative, although timing may depend on the complexity and source material.
No retaliation
Boho News will not retaliate against a person for reporting an accessibility problem or requesting an accommodation.
Continuous improvement
We review accessibility through automated checks, keyboard testing, responsive testing, semantic review, contrast review, and human feedback.
We update this statement as our systems, standards, and known limitations change.
